Picture

I delivered a spooky story event, on Halloween, at the fabulous Hemsworth Library!

What a pleasure to work with such talented people.  Check out my Blog for details!

Halloween 2017:  With Halloween lurking ever closer, like the ghostly shadow of zombie giving a werewolf a piggy-back, it's the perfect season to get into the spooky spirit with some great stories. If you would like some good recommendations, check out my guest blog post on Mr Ripley's Enchanted Books (out today). I also share some of my previously top secret writing tips for creating seriously scary stories (although, I'm not giving away all my mysterious methods!) Why not have a go at writing some of your own frightening fiction?! The world needs more terrifying tales...
Follow the link below - and HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Hope everyone's enjoying the summer and managing to stay dry! Whilst you're dodging the raindrops, why not check out my new ghost story, Amelia's Labyrinth, produced by the fabulous people at thewickedlibrary.com as a podcast. I love the professional job they've done with this, from the atmospheric reading, to the music - they set the tale up brilliantly. (Narration by Louie Pollard. Interview with the author by Jeanette Andromeda. Final mix by Daniel Foytik, 9th Story Studios: www.9thstory.com)
This one's a period tale exploring 'what-you-don't-see', which is the spookiest kind of story in my view. And once you've listened to the story, there's an interview with me at the end! Let me know what you think🙂Here's a direct link: http://thewickedlibrary.com/723/
Go ahead - leave the lights on... 😉

January 4th 2015:  A very Happy New Year to all my readers - both old and new!  From the responses I've been receiving from readers, the arrival this year of my two new novels is going to be really welcomed. 'Firestorm 2', the working title of my sequel to the original, is looking good now - and I'm having a lot of fun writing this one, taking Tom, Jazz and Doc on their latest adventures.  With the introduction of some new and mysterious characters, including (you heard it here first!) The Baron, this one is just as spooky and full of fun as Firestorm Rising!  It's really interesting when I think of how the writing process works; inspiration comes from just about everywhere - I don't even have to look for it!  I was driving along a few weeks ago and got stuck in a traffic jam. When I looked out of the window, I saw this spookily named road sign (see picture) and I got some very strange looks as I leaned out of my window and took a photo of it on my phone! Yes, it appears in the Firestorm sequel - and when I take you along Dark Lane, it will make your hair stand on end and make you giggle in equal amounts! Keep checking in for updates, the new book will be along shortly, and don't forget - if you have any questions, just go to the 'Contact John' page and send me a message.  Have a fabulous January! Very best wishes, John.

December 1st 2014:  2015 is heading towards us and I'm ready to welcome it with open arms!  I will be publishing two new books (both as yet untitled) - a young adult stand-alone novel that will scare you out of your socks, and the thrilling sequel to Firestorm Rising!  Firestorm 2 will be released in the spring, and the YA novel will appear in the autumn.

Firestorm Rising's sequel is coming to the boil nicely and steaming ahead - I'm typing so fast my hands are catching fire!  In the meantime, I thought I'd share this lovely review, emailed to me last week by someone just getting into my books (new readers are ALWAYS welcome to join the team!)

"A truly gripping story which will have you on the edge of your seat, as soon as you've picked the amazing, rare book up!"  (William, aged 11)

January 3rd 2013:
I've received the final proofs now for Demons in the Dark to be released in paperback!  The proofs consist of the cover and the interior of the book, as it will look when it is published.  I've checked it over really closely and I'm delighted with the way it looks.  This means I'll now give the thumbs up for the publisher to release the book very soon!  Watch this space over the next few weeks for details of the exact release date and how to get hold of your very own signed copy.  Can't wait!

March 7th 2013:  The Demons are here!  Demons in the Dark has been released in paperback today!  The book looks great - really glossy and spooky, with a dark cover and blood-red title...  The story inside should appeal to all my fans; I've really pushed the boat out to give you you some fantastic monsters and a whole host of spooky thrills.  Full details of how to get Demons in the Dark can be found on this site - or if you drop me a note, on the 'Contact John' page, I can personally arrange to send you your very own signed copy!  I'm now working full-throttle on the sequel to Firestorm Rising, which I hope to have in readers' hands by around August/September 2013.  Watch this space!
